THE SOUTHERN DEMOCRAT, Oneonta, Alabama, Thursday, July 24, 1958 Mountain Unload Happenings By Woman's Missionary (Written for last week) The revival was held at the Methodist Church last week. Rev. Robert Murphree, delivered very inspiring messages. Large crowds were in attendance at all services. The Home Demonstration Club met in the church basement on Thursday afternoon.

A very interesting demonstration on, "Home Planning," was given by Miss Gilbert. The crowd was very small due to so much canning and freezing being done by the ladies. Delicious cold watermelon was served by Mrs. Josie Faust. Mrs.

John Faust is ill at Blount Memorial. Also Mrs. Linda Sloan is ill at her home. We wish them both a speedy recovery. Jim King, son of Mr.

and Mrs. James King, attended the 4-H Club camp at Auburn last week. Mrs. Oren Jones had as her guests recently her nieces, Marie Green and Martha Branham. Quincy Freeman and daughter Sandra from Hueytown visited with his sister, Mrs.

Reba Wood, and family Thursday. Little Debbie and Cathy Freeman from Nashville are spending week with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Self, and Carol. Marvin Whited from Illinois has been visiting his parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Sidney Whited, and Ann. Mr. and Mrs. Perry Cornelius entertained at their home recently wtih a fish fry.

Enjoying the occasion with them were Mr. and Mrs. France Cornelius, Mrs. Lethia Nix, Mr. and Mrs.

Wiley Cornelius, and Mr. and Mrs. George Burttram. Moody and Mary Logan were Saturday night supper guests of Martin and Sue Faust in One- onta. Mrs.

Ruby Spurgeon and Mrs. Mathoree Bowles were guests of their mother, Mrs. Zion Cornelius, and attended revival services at Rosa the past week. Faye Whited from Oneonta was the week-end guest of Dianne Whited. Mr.

and Mrs. John Murray, Johnnie and Don were in Birmingham Sunday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Raymon Henderson, Robbie and Mike. Mrs.

R. 0. Box had as her guests over the week end Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Snead and Morris from Gadsden, Mr.

and Mrs. Mart. Snead from Snead, Mrs. Lizzie Whited, Mrs. J.

D. Whited, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Scarboro, Sylacauga, and Mr. and Mrs.

David Walls, Clanton. Mr. and Mrs. Coy Woodard are the proud parents of a baby daughter, born Friday at Gordon Patton Hospital. The mother and baby, whom they have named Janet, are now at home.

Guests of the Woodards and The Sherrell family reunion was held July 4th at the home of Mr. 1 and Mrs. Ira Sherrell and son of Bangor. Those enjoying the barbecue and get-together were Mr. and Mrs.

Joe Tuck and family of Blountsville; Mr. and Mrs. Obie Tuck and family, and Obie Tuck, Oneonta; Mrs. Henry Jimmerson and Julian, Mr. and Mrs.

Mt. Hebron can have a growing church and Sunday school if ye will pray hard and teach the true word of God. Mr. and Mrs. James Bryson and his mother, Mrs.

A. Q. Bryson, are' visiting their daughter, Mrs. Jack Wood at Pensacloa. Mrs.

Dessie Tidwell and Reba are spending two weeks in Auburn with her son, Norman Tidwell, Mrs. Tidwell, and little Eddy. Clarence and Betty Dodson and Rayburn, of Detroit, have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Kennith Dodson and Aunt Nan Dodson.

Kathleen Mount spent some few days in Birmingham with her sister, Mrs. W. D. Stevenson, and Mr. Stevenson.

Alton Burro, Kathleen Mount, and Bobby Sivley went to Cullman Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Dodson are leaving for a few days' visit with her neice, Mrs. Jack Wood, Mr.

Wood and daughter of Pensacola. Saturday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Bussey of Cullman were Mr. and Mrs.

Fred Sivley, Mr. and Mrs. Ossie Sivley and children, Mrs. Fred Cain and Ralph. It was Juanita's birthday.

The fine food was served from such a lovely table. Mr. and Mrs. Odis Sivley had a nice day with Mr. and Mrs.

Dave Brown and daughters Sunday. Mrs. John Mount is ill at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Loyd Helms. Among others ill are Mrs.

John Black, Joe Warren and Jim Mead. Mr. and Mrs. Rosco Mount and Judy paid us a nice visit Sunday night. We are hav.ing a cemetery cleaning Thursday at Mt.

Hebron followed by the fourth Sunday singing. The Gospelaires and Blount County Trio are the specials. There will be plenty of dinner for everyone. J. C.

Smith is our chairman. RECORD BOLLWORM THREAT Auburn, -The real problem in cotton fields so far this year has been the heavy bollworm infestation. Bollworms have appeared in the highest numbers ever recorded at this stage of the cotton season, reports API Entomologist Jerry Ruffin, and farmers in all parts of the state are cautioned to watch their fields. On the other hand, boll weevils have been very few, continued the specialist. Fields checked throughout the state show they are present in about the same numbers in North, Central, and South Alabama.

Other insects as thrips, spider-mites, and aphids, have not caused any serious damage, said Ruffin. "The same kind of insecticides that have been used in the past- aldrin, BHC, dieldrin, endrin, heptachlor, and toxaphene -are recommended for poisoning," Ruffin noted, "and all of these except endrin and toxa- FEDERAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES The Fifth U. The positions are located in large slaughtering and meat packing establishments, or in plants where poultry is eviscerated or processed on a mass production basis. For further information and forms for filing, refer to Examination Announcement No. 5-83-4 (58) for either of the above positions, which can be secured from the Civil Service Representative at the Post Office, or from the Department of Agriculture's Board of Civil Service Examiners, 322 Peachtree-Seventh Building, 50 Seventh St. N.
